Russian Beer

Original post on my Eurotrip Photoblog

In St. Petersburg, I had issues ordering vodka.

At a cafe near my hotel, I told the server I wanted to sample their vodka. She looked horrified and said she didn’t understand English. I thought this was odd since we managed to go through my orders for an appetizer, dinner entree and a cocktail.

“So sorry,” she said, refusing to offer any selections on what some people call Russia’s national drink. I gave up and asked for the bill.

Grilling sausages in Stockton

We made it down to Stockton with a hearty appetite for the Stockton Asparagus Festival. This year, I decided to pace myself and keep my belly open for other festival treats.

Deep-fried Asparagus
Every year, I ended up stuffing myself with deep-fried spears. It’s a festival tradition to dip piping hot asparagus spears into cool ranch dressing. I like tasty traditions. However, it also takes up precious real estate in my tummy, making me miss out on other festival goodies.

Lunch at the Stockton Asparagus Festival #fb
With a little bit of patience, I managed to snag a yummy Lockeford Sausage for lunch.
