In My Belly

Blog update: feel free to download episode 1 of ‘In My Belly.’ Go ahead…knock yourself out.

As we watched Anthony Bourdain enjoy all the amazing fish and cocktails in the Caribbean, my hubby asked: “Want to go to Tomales Bay?”

I said sure. After Bourdain bid farewell to island hopping, we hit the road in search of fresh oysters and other culinary adventures along Shoreline Highway. Mark parked his Corolla next to the bay and we loaded up on oysters from the Marshall Store.

Fresh oysters and tamales for lunch

Following a tasty lunch of smoked oysters, Oysters Rockefeller, tamales, fish stew and beer, we worked on my first episode for my new video podcast: “In My Belly.”

What do you think?

Folks – It’s been a while since I’ve produced one of these video podcasts. So, please bear with me.

Thanks to my co-worker who keeps buzzing ideas in my head, over drinks, I wanted to make an online series about all the stuff that go into my belly: food, drink and anything else that tastes good. That’s why I named the podcast: “In My Belly.”
Marshall Store

OK – moving on to some podcast extras on the Marshall Store.

  • Our first visit to Tomales Bay was in August 2009. We heard about it thanks to Tanya, a food blogger who I met via the Goode Job challenge.
  • BBQ Oysters

  • The Marshall Store has something for everyone’s appetite. It looks like another popular menu item is the chowder. We were pleasantly surprised by the savory tamales. I also enjoyed the fish stew.
  • Check out the nice selection of local beers and wine. Be advised, you will need to enjoy your alcoholic beverages along the roadside dining area.
  • Did you hear all the wind in the video? Yup – it’s quite breezy by the bay. In fact, I recommend bringing a sweater or jacket because it could be chilly on your trip.

  • If you don’t have to rush home – drive down to Point Reyes and do dessert at the Cowgirl Creamery. Sample some expensive cheese and walkout with the Earl Grey Panna Cotta. Yum!
