It’s a blessing to live and work near my Bay Area friends. I prefer sharing a good meal with my girlfriends over chatting between racks of clothes and makeup counters. The best part – we always have an appetite for good food, diet be damned.
Last week, I did an early happy hour/late lunch with Susan in the Mission. We sampled pork belly donuts at the Sycamore. They serve the donuts with Maker’s Mark maple sryup. The flavor combo works for me.
Take a look at what’s inside that crispy pastry! It was so nice bite into that succulent meat.
Then I did lunch with Betina in the Temescal neighborhood of Oakland. She introduced me to Burma Star. She said I had to try the rainbow salad. I was tickled to see our server mix it up at our table. Yum!
It’s a refreshing, bright salad with noodles, tofu, dried shrimp, papaya and more. It’s tossed with a tangy tamarind dressing. I suspect one person could make this salad a meal.
