Our home away from home: Davis. When we want good food, tasty drinks and a refreshing atmosphere, we got to this college town.
A few weekends ago, we enjoyed happy hour beer and hummus at the Delta of Venus.
I also enjoyed all the fresh fish at Mikuni’s in Davis. This is part of a big chain with other locations in Sacramento and Lake Tahoe.
The lunch specials on sushi rolls are huge!
We’re enjoying the first weekend of Spring with 70-degree weather.
Since I’m working another graveyard shift, I want to save my energy. Instead of partying hard, my favorite thing to do is chill at home with good food, wine and my family.
Earlier this month, we picked up this beautiful, boneless salmon from Costco. I used salt, pepper and some olive oil on this fresh piece of fish.

I helped out Decant Events with its wine tasting event at the Modernbook Gallery.
The next morning, the founder of Decant Events, Amrita, made french toast for breakfast. Yum!
She also introduced me to the sugary joys of REAL Canadian Maple Syrup. In comparison to its American counterpart, this syrup has a lighter color. It also doesn’t smack me in the face with sweetness. This is totally ideal for me since I don’t have much of a sweet tooth.
Overall, the syrup paired nicely with the toast and fruit.
